Hockey
In-House Hockey Skills Clinics - All Levels
These clinics are supervised and led by Ice Arena staff and are designed to improve your skating, stick handling and shooting ablilities. We emphasize traditional hockey values within a fun, lightly competitive environment. Full hockey gear is required. Please visit our website, www.ChavezCenter.com, and the Ice Arena schedule for weekly dates and times. Minimum 1/2 shield and mouth guard required full cage or full shield suggested.
Adult Hockey Drop-In
Open to all players who are 16 years and older. NO CHECK! Full hockey equipment required. Players are requested to bring a dark & light colored jersey. Times and dates may vary. Please check our website at www.ChavezCenter.com and weekly Ice Arena schedule. Minimum 1/2 shield and mouth guard required full cage or full shield suggested.
Stick & Puck
This session is open to all hockey players and is designed for all skaters of varying skill levels to practice their stick handling and shooting skills. Full equipment is required. No slap shots, group instruction or scrimmages will be allowed. Please check our website and the Ice Arena schedule for weekly dates and times. Minimum 1/2 shield and mouth guard required full cage or full shield suggested.
Intro to Hockey
Skaters must be able to skate forward, balance and stop. These sessions take place during our regular Learn to Skate program. We concentrate on basic skating skills and move into beginning stick handling and puck control. Skaters then graduate into our In-House hockey Skills Clinics where they participate in formalized clinics to improve their skating, stick handling and shooting skills. We provide skates, sticks, helmets and gloves.
Session III:

Adult Hockey
League Fees Will Vary, Home & Away Jerseys
We have Adult Leagues for all skill levels. These are NO CHECK leagues and full equipment is required. We have referees, scorekeeping, stats and follow USA Hockey rules. Call 955-4031. Minimum 1/2 shield and mouth guard required full cage or full shield suggested.
Adult "D" League NEW
This league is for beginner hockey players. You must be able to skate forward, balance, and stop. The Ice Arena can assist you in acquiring gear if needed. Call 955-4031.
Speed Skating
Join the Santa fe Speed Skate Club! The GCCC Ice Arena is the only rink in New Mexico that offers a dedicated time slot for our program "THE NEED FOR SPEED." Are you a thrill seeker? Do you enjoy learning new skills and making new friends? Do you like to skate FAST? Then Speed Skating is for you!

Ice Dancing
Learn the beauty and challenges of basic ice dancing. We focus on backwards skating, dance turns, edge quality, and dancing with a partner. Also enjoy dancing to waltzes, tangos, foxtrots, and varied rhythms. Come ice dance with the "stars" and improve all aspects of your skating. Beginners welcome! Must be able to skate forward, balance and stop consistently.
Wednesday 9:15 am - 10:15 am
Freestyle
Freestyle sessions are open to all qualified figure skaters. These sessions are designed for serious and competitive figure skaters taking private lessons or working on individual skills. The Ice Arena will determine the appropriate limit of skaters participating in any one session. (Approximately 25). The "Tape Line" will be enforced and repetitive program music will not be allowed. The lead skater(s) with the "Sash" will be given "right of way." There will be TWO GCCC provided "Sash's" to allow for better time management. Any skater engaging in reckless or dangerous skating will be ordered off the ice. No standing or congregating with other skaters, on the ice, during these sessions. Appropriate attire required. No Jeans!
* There may be consideration for a one-time "Cut in Line" per lesson, during very busy ice times there may be a required "Music Sign-up Sheet"
