Exercise with an empathic, safety knowledgeable trainer.
As a former counselor I feel I've had the opportunity to hone the teaching, communication, and motivational skills which I've come to realize are particularly important for a personal trainer. My training philosophy includes safely guiding my clients through the necessary preparatory stages required for increased muscle mass, stronger bones, and body fat loss. Additionally, I teach my clients how to independently and successfully train themselves.

The scope of my client training involves:

I believe an effective personal trainer must be an exceptional teacher. They must have a deep and thorough understanding of fitness and be able to communicate this. They must be sensitive to the communications, both verbal and nonverbal, of their clients, and have the skill to know both when and when not to push. As a trainer I strive to be an excellent teacher, and to establish a series of safe and successful, yet challenging, clent training or rehabilitative experiences. Building confidence in exercise is just as important as it is in every other area of our lives.
I personaly know first hand about the challenges of injury and surgical rehabilitaion and often collaborate with clients physicians or physical therapitsts.
As an American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer for over 19 years, I feel strongly that exercise should be challenging, yet I insist that it not be drudgery.
My other certifications include: YMCA Strength Training Instructor, The American Senior Fitness Association, and YMCA Get Real Weight Management.
My previous clients have included: the former Senator (NY) Patrick Moynihan; the American discoverer of the HIV virus, Robert Gallo, MD; Peggy Van Hulsteyn, author of Yoga and Parkinsons Disease; and Kent Cayce, PGA golf coach and Golf Magazine contributing author.
